Jalandhar, July 31, 2015: "Accept the phase of retirement like any other change in life", said Prof P K Kapoor on the occasion of his retirement ceremony when he got emotional and was flown in those priceless tears.
Vice Principal and HoD of Chemistry department Prof P K Kapoor after his glorious contribution of 39 years got retired, and to recognise his priceless contribution and to pay him due respect DAV College organised a retirement function and a dinner to honour him.
The event started with a welcome note given by staff secretary Dr Sanjiv Dhawan. The farewell message of Prof Kapoor was read by the Vice Principal Prof P K Sharma.
Prof Kapoor is a gold medalist in MSc Chemistry and M. Phil from Guru Nanak Dev University and he joined DAV in 1976 and in 2010 he became the HoD of Chemistry department , and 2 years later in 2012 he was appointed as the Vice Principal of DAV. During his tenure of providing valuable services to the college, he has served the institution in distinct aspects. He has been the president of library committee, infrastructure committee , hospital committee respectively and has served as a supportive in charge for time table and for building respectively.
Prof Kapoor during his services has been a member of GNDU's Senate, a member of Board Of Studies , a member of the faculty of Science and Board of Moderation in Science.
Principal Dr B B Sharma, Vice Principal Prof P K Sharma , Registrar DR Ravi Manuja, Bursar Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma and Staff Secretary DR Sanjeev Dhawan presented him with a silver token of remembrance and respect to honour his glorified contributions .
President Manu Sood of the local unit of College union and Prof Manoj Kumar (Secretary) presented Prof Kapoor with Momentous to honour him.
Dr Kiran Randhawa (Deputy Registrar), Prof Sarita also honoured Prof Kapoor's wife Mrs Neena Kapoor.
Principal Dr B B Sharma addressed Prof Kapoor As "Classic Professor ". He said Prof Kapoor is a down to earth, humble, calm, hardworking and above all an excellent teacher who has always contributed positively in various aspects. He signified the college doors and the doors of our hearts will remain forever open for Prof kapoor and he will always be welcomed with open arms.
During his farewell speech Prof Kapoor told how he worked hard for decades for serving innocently to his college, society and his family. But now since he cannot work that hard, this does not imply that he no longer wants to serve them. Instead now in this phase of retirement he can perform meaningful tasks from his past experiences. He quoted " I have been working earlier , and will keep on working the same way because it imparts me positive energy, my intelligence increases and i get a chance to explore all my hidden talents . I can influence others in a positive manner with my ability, knowledge and old accomplished milestones. In this manner I can render valuable and meaningful contributions ". He emphasised to accept retirement like any other change in our life , and think like as if you have shifted to a new home from your old one . He remembered all the beautiful moments spent in college and told how he learnt something new everyday from DAV. He signified that teaching has been his passion and books are his best friends. He felt happy on being a part of everyone's thoughts and hearts and thanked everyone for their love and care. The college staff after the dinner respectfully bid adieu to Prof Kapoor and the thank giving note was presented by Dr Sanjeev Dhawan (Staff Secretary).
