Jalandhar, September 21, 2015: Keeping in view more transparency in system, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University has conducted its 58th meeting of Board of Governors in the office of Chief Secretary Punjab, here today. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary Punjab, IAS Sarvesh Kaushal as Chairman BOG.
The Board held detailed deliberations to chalk out the future road map for the University to establish it as premier Technical University in the country. The stress was given upon the regular requirements of regular appointments and to avoid adhocism.
BOG Chairman said, “In order to improve the governance, it was decided that the University will strictly follow the process of regular appointments from now on. No adhocism would be tolerated. Special recommendations are affecting the transparency of whole system.”
He further stated, “The University should be at sound system. For this, university will follow the guidelines of University grants commission (UGC) in fresh recruitments along with in promotions and other developments.”
The Board gave utmost priority to ensure strict policies on all ethical issues. Board also discussed the concept and plans along with an estimate for setting up a sports hostel at University main campus. It also discussed the establishment of center of excellence in sports.
IAS Rakesh Kumar Verma, Secretary Technical Education and Vice-Chancellor of IKG-PTU said, “ After launching the grievances portal, it is good to found that only 17 grievances have been registered in one month that are only queries and not complaints. Even university has highlighted its launch to make it user-friendly.”
