Chandigarh, July 15, 2013: The Punjab Government has initiates the process for 6 laning of Kharar-Ludhiana road which would prove to be a big push to strengthen the infrastructure in the state.
Disclosing this here today, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Public Works Department Minister, said that necessary file work has been started to get all kind of approvals for this 1000 crore ambitious projects and construction work to be started on March 2014.
Stating this road as a life line of the entire Malwa region, Dhillon said that this project would include 68 kilometer stretch from Sector-38 Chandigarh to Ludhiana via Kharar, which would be converted into 6 lane.  
Dhillon further informed that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Parkash singh Badal and visionary guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab is all set to become the state, having best road connectivity in the country. He said that 175 KM road  from Sambhu Border–Jalandhar with the cost of Rs 1500 crore, 44 KM from Bhogpur-Mukerian with  Rs 300 crore, 102 KM from Pathankot to Amritsar with Rs 800 crore and 78 KM from Ludhiana to Talwandi worth Rs 479 crore have also been under  construction.
The Minister informed that four major four lane projects were under construction in the state including 56 kilometer long Ropar-Chamkaur Sahib-Neelon-Doraha (along Sirhind Canal), 30 kilometer long Morinda-Kurali-Siswan-Baddi, 30 kilometer long Kot Kapura-Sri Muktsar Sahib and 36 kilometer long Batala-Mehta-Beas. He said that these projects would also be completed soon, which would provide a big sigh of relief to daily commuters from traffic congestions besides saving their precious time and energy.
Dhillon said that SAD-BJP Government was committed for the overall development of the state and in future more road construction projects would be started for the public convenience.
