Prof Emanual Nahar, Dean Student Welfare, PU was the chief guest of the occasion and in his address while congratulating the department for large participation, he highlighted that by participating in these events the students have an overall impact on their development and personality.
Spellecrama is a quiz competition which challenges the General Knowledge quotient and the English Vocabulary of the students. The quiz competition comprised of 40 brain storming questions to be completed within 20 minutes. This was a great opportunity for students to access their intellect and scratch their minds. 260 enthusiastic students comprising of 130 teams from various departments and colleges of PU, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, PGGC, Sector-11, Aurobindo College, Ludhiana, MCM DAV College, Gobindgarh Public College, etc participated.
Winners of the quiz competition were Aryaman Kumar Singh and Apoorva Kumar Singh of Department of Laws. The first Runner Up team was Amritpreet Kahlon and Maneesh Mittal from Department of English and Cultural Studies and Department of Laws respectively and the second Runner Up team was Divya Verma and Mitul Singh Rana of University Institute of Legal Studies on 2nd February 2018. This promising event ignited the higher thinking skills in students. The Certificate of Appreciation was also awarded to the ranked 31 teams who had cleared the benchmark of the quiz and rest 96 were teams given Certificate of Participation.
Prof. Upasna Joshi Sethi, Director, UIAMS informed the department is dedicated to the development of students and many more exciting events are in line for the future.
Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Training-cum-Placement Officer, UIAMS, and Dr. Manjushri Sharma, Assistant Professor, UIAMS, Panjab University, Chandigarh were also present on the occasion.
