Ludhiana, January 28, 2019: During a special program organized on the occasion of Republic Day in Ludhiana, Punjab School Education, Freedom Fighter and Food Processing Minister, Sh.Om Prakash Soni honoured Dr.Arvinder Singh Bhalla, Principal, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, for his invaluable contribution, professional commitment, active and futuristic vision in the field of education. Principal Dr.Arvinder Singh Bhalla expressed his gratitude that the honour bestowed upon him is the honour for Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, laborious teaching and non teaching staff of the college and talent students. In 2015, after being appointed as the Principal of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Dr.Arvinder Singh Bhalla, under the efficient, dynamic and able guidance of Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council and with the co-operation of the faculty members, has got an opportunity to organise five National Seminars, three International Conferences and more than fifty Extension Lectures on various topics. He further added that during the short journey of these past three years, he has been able to introduce various positive and for reaching changes in the college as well as in the academics and to update the college as per the current requirements of the fast moving world, like, starting Online Admission, introducing M.Sc. Chemistry, addition of 70 more seats in B.Com., introducing Banking and Management as an Ad-on course, construction of eight new classrooms, five new Smart Classrooms, renovating the Auditorium, constructing new building of Gurudwara Sahib for the students’ moral development, installing a Solar Panel to produces 70 kw electricity by using non conventional sources of energy, establishing vertical gardens to keep the surroundings clean and green, making the college campus fully Wi-Fi, motivating the students for social work, for students eight new ISO certificate courses have been introduced apart from their traditional courses, introducing U.G.C. approved Community College, especially in the Departments of Commerce and Computer Science, starting skill based courses like B.Voc., and many more new changes. For honour he was bestowed with, he thanked the Govt. of Punjab, District administration and to the Hon'ble Education Minister Sh. Om Prakash Soni, in particular and assured that in coming future also he will continue to perform his duties with more enthusiasm and commitment.
