PRICE HIKE: Audi announces price hike on its model range in India

Ludhiana, November 15, 2012: Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, today announced an increase in price of its model range available in India. The increase would range up to 5 percent across model from January 1, 2013.

According to Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, “The overall market scenario is challenging. The rise in input cost, depreciating rupee as well as continuous increase in fuel prices have made us re-evaluate our pricing strategy in India and increase the prices of the entire range. However, we are offering the customers customized and innovative finance options from Audi Finance which will make their purchase more attractive.”

“In spite of the challenges, Audi is the growth driver of the luxury market in India. Our company is also growing from strength to strength with 23 dealerships - the most recent one being Audi Raipur. Keeping our performance in mind, we are confident of surpassing the 2012 sales target of 8000 units even before the year comes to an end”, added Perschke.

The luxury carmaker registered a total sale of 850 units in October this year, a strong growth of 76 percent over the same period last year (October 2011: 482 units). The brand with the four rings recorded a 55 percent growth rate YTD with 7267 vehicles sold from January to October 2012. (Jan-October 2011: 4692 units).

Globally, Audi delivered 1,221,150 (2011: 1,081,672) cars of the Audi brand to customers till October – an increase of 12.9 percent. The brand with the four rings sold 123,600 cars to customers worldwide in October this year – an increase of 13.9 percent.

Overall, the Audi Group generated revenue of € 37.7 (2011: 32.4) billion – a rise of 16.3 percent. This performance contributed towards a 6.1 percent increase in the company’s operating profit to € 4.2 (2011: 4.0) billion, representing an operating return on sales of 11.2 (2011: 12.2) percent.

The company opened new showrooms in Raipur, Kanpur, Goa, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Lucknow and Mumbai South among others.

The Audi model range in India includes the new Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sport back, Audi A8L, Audi Q3, AudiQ5, Audi Q7, Audi S4, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi TT Coupé, the super sports car AudiR8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi South, Delhi West, Goa, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Raipur and Surat.
