Press Conference On 15th March On Central Excise Duty On Jewellery

Ludhiana/Jalandhar, March 14, 2016: K.J.Chaudhry, IRS, Principal Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax, Ludhiana has stated that a nominal Central Excise duty of 1% (without input tax credit) and 12.5% (with input tax credit) has been imposed on articles of jewellery vide Budget 2016-17. Some doubts have been expressed by the trade and industry regarding this new levy.
Accordingly, his office proposes to hold press conferences on 15th March, 2016 at 14.30 hours simultaneously at the following three venues highlighting the salient features of Central Excise levy on jewellery.
(i) Conference Hall, First Floor, Central Excise House, F Block, Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana.
(ii) Office of Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise & Service Tax, Ground Floor, Central Revenue Building, Opposite Sky Lark Hotel, Model Town Road, Jalandhar.
(iii) Office of Deputy Commissioner of Central Excise & Service Tax, Second Floor, The Mall, Amritsar.
