Preparations on for 70th senior national basketball championship (men & women) 

Ludhiana: The preparations for the 70th Senior National Basketball Championship (Men & Women) beginning 21st December are on at a high pitch. This National Championship is being held at Ludhiana commemorating with the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev JI .The Four Basketball courts, two indoor and two outdoor Basketball stadiums of Guru Nanak Dev Stadiums at Ludhiana are being given a complete facelift for the games by the active assistance of Punjab Govt. 
 30 Teams (MEN) & 26 (Women) from across all the States, Railways, Services, ONGC & other important Teams are participating. The Basketball Federation Of India has deputed 100 technical professionals/referees for conduct of 150 plus matches in these eight days of gala National Basketball Sporting events. The teams will be divided into 6 groups wherein the top 10 teams of last Nationals will be divided into A & B groups.
To organize the National Championships, an organizing committee under the chairmanship of Shri Rakesh Agrawal,the Commissioner of Police and Shri Pradeep Aggarwal, the Deputy Commissioner , Ludhiana has been formed . The vice chairpersons are ,Mrs Kamaljit Brar,IAS, commissioner Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana and Shri Iqbal Singh Sandhu ,ADC  Ludhiana. Mr Ashwani Kapoor DCP, Ludhiana is the organizing Secretary of the games.
Shri Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Cabinet Minister, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Punjab will be inaugurating the opening of the games at 3 PM on 21st December in Indoor Basketball Stadium. Matches will start at 7 AM till 1. PM and 2 Pm till 8 PM daily.
Mr Teja Singh Dhaliwal, the Honorary General Secretary Of Punjab Basketball Association and the other members of the organizing committee are also fully geared up in the preparations to make this gala basketball sporting event a memorable one where the National Basketball Stars of India of whom many are NBA players too will present a real Basketball Thrill in Chill .Reception of the teams at the Railway Station will begin wef 20-12-2019 morning till 21-12-2019 morning.
Punjab is defending national champion in the men’s section team.
All the teams and their managers will be lodged in city Hotels for which arrangements have been finalized.
