PPCB and industry to collectively tackle pollution
Chandigarh, November 13, 2014: The Punjab Government has constituted a state level consultative committee for environment and committee for specific major industries of importance so that the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and Industry could join hands to collectively tackle the problem of pollution thereby saving the environment. The 15 – member newly constituted committee was assigned the task to implement the recommendations of Punjab Governance Reforms Commission (PGRC).
According to an official spokesman, the Secretary, Science, Technology & Environment, Punjab and Member Secretary of PPCB will be the Chairman and Convener of the committee. Besides this, General Manager, Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Lehra Mohabbat, Executive Director, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, SP Oswal, Vardhman Industries, Ludhiana, Rajinder Pal Singh, Turbo Scaffolding, Dhandari Kalan, Ludhiana, Anil Kumar, Shreyansh Paper Mills Ltd., Ahmedgarh, Rajat Sood, Oriental Dyeing, Industrial Area-A, Ludhiana, Vikram Vehmbi, National Electroplaters, Ludhiana, Vinod Vashist, President, Steel Re-rolling Mills, Khanna, IS Paul, Drish Shoes Pvt. Ltd, Jalandhar, Representative of M/s Jagatjit Industries Ltd., Hamira and VK Goyal, MD, Saluja Exports Ltd., Rahon have been taken as members of the committee. The newly formed committee would regularly deliberate on advising the different industries to install best available and techno-economical technologies to make contribution in saving the environment.
