Powerful performance by students of Amity Film & Drama urging to conserve water through musical play

Noida, September 6, 2019: To promote awareness towards the movement initiated by Prime Minister of India for “Conservation of Water”, Amity School of Film and Drama (ASFD) organized a play ‘Shankar Bela’ at University campus here.

Shankar Bela is a musical play, set in the year 2030 in a village in Rajasthan facing an acute water crisis. The play reflected an intense love story that pans out against a backdrop of Ramleela rehearsal and brings to fire the bitter but true facets of life and human nature amidst crippling water scarcity. The play was produced and directed by Gaurav Pahwa and Choreographed by Sushmita Ghosh.

Gaurav Pahwa informed that the play is the first part of three chapters of the original stage play series of Shankar Bela, Amina and Rishab. He added that students of Acting Course of ASFD as well as from other institutions of Amity University have performed and depicted various characters in the play.

Addressing the gathering, Pooja Chauhan, Chairperson ASFD commended the powerful performances of the students and thanked the parents, faculty members and students who had come to watch the play as their appreciation will motivate the actors to perform in future.

Abhay Chauhan, Vice President, Amity Education Group said that in a short span of time, the students have been nurtured to showcase a professional performance. He remarked that in the coming years, every students of ASFD will make a mark in the entertainment industry.

The play was attended by Jaishree Chauhan, Vice President, Amity Finishing School, Mehtaab Chauhan, Senior Officials, faculty member, staff and students of Amity as well parents who cheerfully applauded the performances by the artists.
