POWERCOM CASHIER commits fraud with customers

Ludhiana, February 1, 2013: A POWERCOM cashier namely Amit Kumar, posted at City Center Division (Unit 3), has been booked at Police Station Salem Tabri for allegedly doing fraud worth about Rs. 40,860 with about 86 customers.

The accused was posted as Cashier at the POWERCOM Division concerned from May 4, 2006 to April 18, 2012.

This fraud came to light when one of the customers got suspected and verified all the facts on his own. He had got his electricity bill worth Rs. 5,590 deposited against which the accused issued him receipt for Rs. 5,590 but in official documents the entry was made for only Rs.590.

On this, the vigilant customer informed the POWERCOM authorities concerned following which matter was reported to police.

During investigation, it came to light that the accused did fraud in similar manner with other 85 customers.

Police have registered a case against the accused following a complaint made by POWERCOM Additional SE/Operation Division Special, Ludhiana.

IO in this case, Naresh Kumar told that the accused was absconding. He said they were investigating the matter very minutely.

Powercom XEN CL Bains told that Amit Kumar had been placed under suspension.
