Ludhiana, August 5, 2019: The Port of Antwerp in association with FIEO Punjab organised an "Exporters Meet with Officials from Port of Antwerp & Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Port (JNPT)" at Ludhiana.

The objective for the meet was to highlight the benefits of doing business via Port of Antwerp which is one of the important gateways for Trade between the Indian-European corridor.

Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Luc Arnouts, Vice President International Relations and Networks, Antwerp Port Authority along with Arvinder S Ranga, Customs Commissioner of Ludhiana and Ashwani Kumar, Regional Chairman, FIEO North were the key guests during the session.

Luc Arnouts, Vice President International Relations and Networks, Antwerp Port Authority said that, "The Antwerp Port Authority plays an important role in the day-to-day operation of the port. The Port Authority manages and maintains the docks, bridges, locks, quay walls and land. It is also responsible for the efficient passage and safety of the shipping traffic in the Antwerp port area. It provides tugs and cranes, carries out dredging work and promotes the port in Belgium and abroad". He also added that, "The Port of Antwerp is always striving to present the best possible combination of efficiency and cost to customers. Towards this effort, in combination with JNPT with which Antwerp Port shares strong maritime connectivity, both parties offer robust gateways for the India-Europe corridor".

Sanjay Sethi,Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) during his address said that, "The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust also known as Nhava Sheva, is the largest container port in India. Located east of Mumbai, JNPT accounts for more than half of total container volumes handled at India's 12 public ports and around 40 percent of the nation's overall containerized ocean trade. Major exports from Jawaharlal Nehru Port are textiles, sporting goods, carpets, textile machinery, boneless meat, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The JNPT offers various advantages of using if as the gateway for overseas trade, especially for the trade from Ludhiana and surrounding regions".

Senior representatives from prominent export houses from the region attended the meet.
