Punjab education minister warns officers of stern action

Chandigarh, April 10, 2015: Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema today expressed strong discontentment over the poor arrangements made by the boarding and lodging of students participating in the state level primary school games.

Dr. Cheema who conducted a surprise visit in Mata Gujri Senior Secondary School and Mata Gujru Sara on Friday late evening strictly asked the DEO (Secondary), DEO (Elementary) and Deputy Director (Sports) to ensure best facilities for the students who were participating in the games. The Education Minister personally checked the rooms of the players and interacted with them to enquire about the facilities being provided to them. Highly peeved over the poor facilities given to the budding players Dr. Cheema said that the state government was duty bound to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay for the players who have come all around from to participate in these games.

Dr. Cheema asked the officers to ensure that none of the players faced any sort of problem during their stay in the state. Education Minister said that he would again visit the premises of both these buildings to ensure that arrangements were made properly. He warned the officers that if any laxity was found on their part then stern action would be taken against them. 

Education Minister who had himself inaugurated the games earlier in the day said that the primary motive of paying a surprise visit to this place was to ensure that the students do not face any sort of problem during these games. Dr. Cheema said that he was personally monitoring all these arrangements so that students arriving from every nook and corner of the state could enjoy the warm hospitality of the state during their stay for the games. He said that the state government was committed for the overall development of the school children in which such games could play a pivotal role.
