Polytechnic Wing of SBS Campus wins Zonal Level Cricket Tournament

Ferozepur, February 12, 2016: S.B.S.State Technical Campus successfully organised Two-Days Zonal Level Inter-Polytechnic Colleges Cricket Tournament of three Zones namely A, C and D under the patronage of PTIS (Punjab Technical Institute Sports). The Cricket Tournament was won by the host team of Polytechnic Wing of SBS State Technical Campus, Ferozepur by beating Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala by 48 runs under clubbed Zones of C and D. Ramgarhia Polytechnic College, Phagwara won under ‘Zone A’ which was played on the pitch of Government Polytechnic College, Ferozepur.

Under clubbed Zones C and D, played on pitch of SBS Campus total five teams participated in this tournament namely, (1) SBS State Technical Campus (Polytechnic Wing), Ferozepur; (2) Vidya Sagar Polytechnic College, Dhuri (3) RIMT Polytechnic College, Mandi Gobindgarh (4) Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala and (5) Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda.

Under Zone A, played on the pitch of Government Polytechnic College, Ferozepur four teams participated namely, (1) Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar; (2) Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur; (3) SAI Polytechnic College, Badhani; (4) Ramgarhia Polytechnic College, Phagwara.

Dr. T. S. Sidhu, Campus Director was Chief Guest during the Inauguration and Closing Ceremony. Prof Gazal Preet Singh (Principal Poly Wing), Dr V S Bhullar, DPE; Prof Rajesh Kumar Singla (Sports Officer Poly Wing), and all faculty and all staff, faculty and students of Poly were present during this occasion.

Dr T S Sidhu, in his speech congratulated the winning teams of SBSSTC Polytechnic Wing, Ferozepur under clubbed Zones C and D and Ramgarhia Polytechnic College, Phagwara under Zone A in this Cricket Tournament. He specially congratulated the winning teams Captain Mr Sambit Rai of third year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He also thanked all the guests present during the occasion. He said SBSSTC campus is marching ahead in various fields for the overall personality development of students. He congratulated Prof. Gazal Preet Singh, Principal Polytechnic Wing and Mr Rajesh Kumar Singla, Sports Officer of Poly Wing for making overall arrangement during this entire tournament.

Prof. Gazal Preet Singh, in his vote of thanks emphasised upon the need for encouraging today’s youth of Punjab towards sports for fighting menace of drugs. He conveyed best wishes for both the teams for their final matches at State level scheduled to be held on 25 and 26 Feb, 2016. He thanked all the faculty and staff of Poly Wing for their contribution during this Two day tournament. Medals and trophies were given to all the players of winning and runners up team.
