Khanna, October 21, 2015: Police Commemoration Day was observed at Police Line Khanna by District Police Khanna to pay homage to Police martyrs which had laid down their lives for the state and Country. This function was held under the Chairmanship of SSP Khanna Gurpreet Singh Gill in which families of martyrs, Tej Partap Singh SDJM Jhanna, Harjinder Singh JMIC Khanna, MLA Khanna Gurkirat Singh Kotli, MLA Samrala Amrik Singh Dhillon, Former MLA Samrala Jagjivan Singh Khirnia and others participated.
SSP Khanna in his address gave information that 34 Police personal of Khanna Police District have died so far while fighting with terrorists and for the welfare of the people and a total of 434 police personal have died so while fighting for the country . He assured the police martyrs’ families that their families will be looked after and they can call them anytime for any genuine work. He along with other important personalities honored the families present at this time.
Tributes were paid to martyrs by police officials along with others and they assured that Police Personal will perform their duties to safeguard the security of the peoples. After the function SSP heard problems of the families and ordered police officials to readdress their grievances.
Before start of the function a guard of honor by a police party of Khanna Dist Police under DSP Khanna Raj Kumar was presented to martyrs. Shinder Kaur a widow of late Constable Sucha Singh of Samrala highlighted her plight of a plot and she stated that she was running from pillar to post but no one was hearing her. SSP directed a police official to look her complaint and to take up her matter with the concerned department. SP(D) Khanna Satinder Pal Singh, SP(H) Gurdeep Singh, SDM Khanna Paramdeep Singh, SGPC Member Davinder Singh Khatra and other concerned officials of Khanna Police Dist. were present at this time.
