PO tries to escape from police custody

Ferozepur, March 23, 2018: High voltage was witnessed near Village Chuchak Vind in Zira sub-division when Maluk Singh, the Proclaimed Offender (PO) involved in the gruesome murder of eight members of two families tried to escape from the police custody while he was being taken to CIA staff office in police jeep. Maluk was nabbed by the police on Wednesday.
As per information available, as soon as the police vehicle reached near Village Chuchak Vind, Maluk suddenly grabbed the driver of the jeep from the back following the driver lost the balance, and the police vehicle hit a Punjab Roadways bus (Number PB 03 AF 6847) which was coming from opposite direction. Both, the jeep and the bus were overturned. Over twenty persons were injured due to the impact of the incident. However, exhibiting great presence of mind, the injured police officials did not let Maluk escape from the spot.
The police officials who were injured in the accident were identified as Constable Balraj Singh, Constable Lakha Singh, Constable Gurjit Singh and Constable Satpal Singh.
The bus passengers who were injured in the incident were identified as Mukesh Kumar son of Bhagwan Dass, Parveen Kumar son of Charandass, both residents of Jammu, Jaswinder Kaur wife of Gurnam Singh, resident of Village Khosa Dal Singh, Amarjit Kaur wife of Kashmir Singh, resident of Village Nasirewala, Bholi wife of Tarsem Singh, resident of Fatehgarh, Manish resident of Ferozepur, Geeta wife of Bagga Singh, resident of Village Kulgarhi and others.
All the injured were admitted in Civil Hospital in Zira, however most of them were later referred to Government Medical College in Faridkot.
When contacted, Pritam Singh, SSP said that a separate case will be registered against Maluk Singh in this regard.
SSP praised the police officials who performed their duty with responsibility and did not allow Maluk to escape.
