Phoolka visited Jodhan Police Station after Lady Constable's death

Will take up the matter in Vidhan Sabha for regulation of Duties
Ludhiana, June 10, 2017: Mr.H.S. Phoolka, Leader of Opposition, Punjab Vidhan Sabha and MLA, Dakha, visited the Jodhan police station, district Ludhiana today and took a serious note of the suicide of lady constable in side the police station.Worth mentioning is that the lady constable had submitted a complaint in the police station. But, no action had been taken by the police. Mr.Phoolka himself sat on a dharna outside Police Station. Senior Supdt of a Police reached the spot. At the initiative of Mr.Phoolka, departmental proceedings were initiated, Special Investigate team (SIT) was constituted for investigation and medical board was formed to conduct medical examination.

Mr.Phoolka asked for appropriate compensation to the family and pressed for job to the kin of the deceased.

Mr.Phoolka further said that he will take up the matter in Vidhan Sabha to regulate the duties of lady constables and women police personnel especially during night. If possible, lady constables should not be given night duties. If inevitable, then, at lease two lady constables should be there in police station. Need of the hour is to gender sensitize the police on this social issue, Mr.Phoolka said.
