Philips Lighting, Disney India unveil kids range

New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) Targeted at kids between three to seven years, Philips Lighting India Wednesday unveiled an imaginative LED lighting portfolio designed by Disney.

"A lot of parents are now looking beyond toys. Looking at the big traction in online sales, this range of home decorative lighting will be available exclusively on Amazon India's e-commerce platform. Customers are increasingly using online portals to buy products," Nirupam Sahay, president, Philips Lighting Indian Subcontinent, told IANS.

He said Philips has partnered with Disney to offer its characters to illuminate children's bedrooms. The products are available between Rs.800 to Rs.5,300 range. The variety includes, night lamps range, wake-up lights, projectors through which Disney characters can be beamed out on the roof and many more.

These lights would have Mickey and Minnie mouse, cars, princess, Jake and Winnie The Pooh among other characters.

"We have created informative pages with products on Amazon site. We not only sell products we also educate people and create awareness among customers," Samir Kumar, director, category management, Amazon India told IANS. The products are available from Wednesday.

"In future we may sell these products in our retail stores as well. These products are manufactured keeping safety in mind as well," Sahay added.

"This product range is a perfect example of how Disney storytelling can be extended into children's bedrooms through an innovative and compelling product offering," Abhishek Maheshwari, vice president and head, Disney Consumer Products, said.

Philips has 120 branded retail stores for home decorative lightings in India. The company, which entered into this segment on 2008 clocked over 80 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR), he informed, adding that the company expects to grow in this sector at 40 percent CAGR till 2018.

Philips India's home decorative segment is one of the top five markets in the company globally.

The current range of products was already launched in a few countries in Europe and in Asia it was launched in Singapore and the Philippines a month ago.
