Chandigarh, October 3, 2019: Two Ph.D.Research Scholars, Karan Razdan, working under the supervision of Professor V.R.Sinha and Komal Saini under the supervision of Dr Vandita Kakkar at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, have added another feather in the cap of the Institute, as they have been selected for the highly prestigious “Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarship-2019”, fully funded to carry out Indo-British collaborative research in domain of the NanoMedicine. Selection of Award was conveyed through an official communiqué from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, UK.
Karan is DST-INSPIRE fellow pursuing his doctoral research work on the topic “Development and Evaluation of Topical Formulations of Levofloxacin and Usnic acid against wound infections‘’. He will extend his work on lipid nanocarriers for treatment of antibiotic resistant bacterial wound infections and their characterization using cell line study and in-vitro biofilm models under the supervision of Professor Kamalinder Kaur Singh at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK.
Komal is pursuing her doctoral research work on a topic “Development of topical nanoformulations of tetrahydrocurcumin and tacrolimus for skin inflammation”. She will extend her work on lipidic nanoparticulate system for dermatitis and their extensive characterization using cell line study and biospectroscopic approaches under the supervision of Professor Kamalinder Kaur Singh at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK.
The highly prestigious award includes to-and-fro international travel expenditure to UK, tuition fees at the University, living allowance for one year, research contingencies, study travel grant within UK or overseas, all accounting for approx. £ 40,000.
