Sher-E-Punjab Foundation, contributed Rs. 4 lakh to Chief Minister State Relief Fund for Cancer Patients, during a soulful musical nite of Arif Lohar organised by Sher-E-Punjab Foundation.

Phagwara / Jalandhar, December 22, 2012: In a soulful musical nite of Arif Lohar organized by Sher-E-Punjab Foundation, an NGO which has been very active in conserving the culture, bridging the divide between India and Pakistan through cultural initiatives, conserving environment, greening wastelands and various social spheres like saving and educating the girl child, women empowerment, etc.

Arif Lohar enthralled the audience with his scintillating performance, his “jugni” ensured that nobody at the venue is left without tapping his feet to the wonderful music created by the very talented musicians who came alongwith Arif Lohar and Fozia Hasan (Female Vocalist) all the way from Lahore. Sher-E-Punjab Foundation, through this effort contributed Rs. 4 lakh to Chief Minister State Relief Fund for Cancer Patients.

His performance was witnessed by Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Punjab who presided over the event as the Chief Guest for the evening alongwith various political leaders of Punjab and Who’s Who of Jalandhar and Phagwara.

Sarwan Singh Phillaur honored Arif Lohar and his team of Musicians and Vocalists and conveyed the best wishes to them and showered praises on them after the performance was over. He also mentioned such initiatives by the NGOs will make a huge impact in making the relations more sweet between India and Pakistan as the most common thing that exist amongst both the countries is the culture which is so rich but needs to be conserved. He appreciated the efforts of Damanvir Singh, President, Sher-E-Punjab Foundation, conveying to him his best wishes he added, that such initiatives need to be taken on a regular basis. He also said, the government is very serious and is taking a lot of initiatives to build the divide between India and Pakistan.

Damanvir Singh said, as an NGO they have been very active in the society in one or the other field. He mentioned, in one of his events with Jagjit Singh, the NGO contributed Rs. 4 lakh to Prime Minister National Relief Fund for the victims of Leh Ladakh cloud burst. He mentioned, they have been and they will be continuing their efforts to contribute to the society in whatever way they can. He also said, in the upcoming initiatives of the NGO, issues related to environment and girl child have a top priority.

Arif Lohar praised the efforts of Damanvir Singh and said such initiatives for helping the Cancer Patients is something which needs to be taken by more and more people actively in the society, he also said, the warmth here in the people is overwhelming and gives a feeling of being at home.
