People of Chandigarh have bestowed faith in BJP Government & PM: Anurag Thakur

BJP-SAD alliance attained majority in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls winning 21 out of 26 wards
Dharamshala, December 20, 2016, Himachal Pradesh BJP MLA and President BCCI Anuraag Thakur said in a press release issued here today, that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with its alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) emerged triumphant in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls. The BJP-SAD alliance attained majority by claiming victory in 21 out of 26 wards.

Earlier this month, Anurag Thakur had campaigned for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections at 10wards. As a result of his inspirational leadership, over 50 Congress party workers had joined BJP, the same day.

Congratulating for the victory, Anurag Thakur said, “I would like to congratulate BJP for an emphatic win at the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls. The election results highlight public’s faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-people schemes and initiatives. This is a testimony of the fact that the step of demonetization aimed at establishing a black money free economy has received support of the public, thereby countering all the false allegations of the opposition. The people of Chandigarh have bestowed faith in BJP Government and Sh. Narendra Modi ji’s able leadership."

Adding further he said, “The good work, efforts and hard work of Sh. Arun Sood, Sh. Sanjay Tandon and all other party workers, aimed at welfare of the society have been recognized and acknowledged by the people. I would like to thank the people of Chandigarh for believing in BJP-SAD alliance and giving us an opportunity to work collaboratively for transforming Chandigarh and building a better city.”

The final tally of the polls is as follows: BJP won in 20 wards, SAD in 1, Congress 4 and Independent 1.
