Ferozepur, February 15, 2013: The people have ultimately accepted the Nanaksahi calendar which was in great controversy in the past. Atleast, its impact could be seen in Punjab.
According to Vikrami and Nanakshahi Calendar, this time, two dates have come up for the Basant. Despite the fact that this Basant festival was being celebrated according to Vikrami Calendar but this time it was lacking warmth. The reason behind this is the declaration of local leave by the district administration according to the Nanakshahi calendar.
Today, the shops are selling the different articles on this occasion and the bazaars are decorated with display of kites and thread. Due to strictness of the administration, this time, the China Dor (thread) is also missing from the market rather number of cases have been registered against the shopkeepers against those who were selling the China Dor.
This time, only simple balloons, china balloons of different shapes, masks of ghosts etc were being sold in the market in view of incident of explosion of gas cylinder about two years back in the city.
There was too much enthusiasm among the children for the celebration of Basant.
