Ludhiana, October 21, 2018: The Department of Cardiology, Hero DMC Heart Institute, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital along with Indian Academy of Pediatrics (Punjab State Chapter) organised a one day CME on Sunday, in Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H. The conference was held in association with Children Heart Link organisation which works with the mission to save the lives of children with heart disease.
The faculty of the conference included Dr Anita Saxena from AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr B R J Kannan from Vadamalayan Hospital, Madurai, Dr Manoj Kumar Rohit and Dr Rana Sandeep Singh from PGIMER, Chandigarh. The conference had clinical and basic topics like interpretation of ECG’s, X Ray’s, Echocardiography and timing of surgery which were of interest to medicine and pediatrics post graduate students and to practicing paediatricians. The panel discussion on “How to counsel the family” was moderated by Dr Daljit Singh, renowned paediatrician & Ex Principal, DMCH and Dr Jugesh Chhatwal, Head of Pediatrics, CMC, Ludhiana. Interesting Post Graduate quiz was also organised, 6 teams from various medical colleges across the state participated with full enthusiasm.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes are regularly organised for persistent competence and to know the recent developments in medicine. The conference focused on both the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease in children. The diagnosis of the heart disease in very important at an early age so that the children do not loose the precious life years. The cardiologist and paediatrician need to proceed together as team for efficient treatment.
We have operated more than 500 children with blue baby syndrome at highly concessional rate under the national programme. Hero DMC Heart Institute has been treating paediatric cardiac patients of North India from the last 15 years and has established itself as the centre of excellence.
