PAU'S KVK (Amritsar) Imparts Training To Farmers In DSR Technology

Ludhiana, May 26, 2016: A training programme on Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) was jointly organized by the Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Amritsar; Department of Agronomy, PAU; and UPL industries. About 50 farmers participated in this training programme.

Dr Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, Associate Director (Training), PAU discussed the current agriculture issues and emphasized on saving water by adopting the improved crop production techniques.

Dr Simerjit Kaur, Assistant Agronomist, gave detailed information about DSR and stressed on adopting the recommended improved agronomic practices to make the technology successful. She also addressed the queries of farmers regarding this technology.

A PAU expert, Dr Raminder Kaur explained the control of weeds in DSR by tractor mounted spray pump with multi nozzle lance. This new spray technology efficiently controls the weeds with recommended dose of weedicides, she added.

The PAU scientist, Dr Kirandeep Kaur dwelt on the new paddy and basmati varieties, and their recommended sowing time.

Dr Sukhjinderjit Singh highlighted the activities of KVK, Amritsar and proposed the vote of thanks. Later, DSR technology was also demonstrated by the experts.
