PAU VC congratulates agri-engineers for bringing laurels to university

Ludhiana, July 31, 2019: The agricultural engineers from the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), have got job placements and admission for higher studies through national level examinations, conducted by Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) and Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

Rajesh U Modi and Nand Lal Kushwaha, students of the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering and Department of Soil and Water Engineering, respectively have been recruited as Agricultural Research Services (ARS) - Scientists at Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) by ASRB. Presently, Mr Rajesh U Modi is pursuing Ph.D on the topic “Design, development and evaluation of tractor operated seeder for mat type paddy nursery” under the guidance of Dr Gursahib Singh Manes. However, Nand Lal Kushwaha completed his M. Tech in Soil and Water Engineering under the guidance of Dr Anil Bhardwaj. He conducted research on the topic “Hydrologic characterization and soil erosion risk mapping of a watershed using remote sensing and GIS.”

Besides, three students Abhishek Patel, Rouf Aslam and Asseya Wahid got admission in Ph.D programmes at Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE), Bhopal through ICAR-IARI Ph.D entrance exam, conducted at national level. It is worth mentioning here that these three successful candidates also got selected for ICAR Senior Research Fellowships (SRF) through ASRB examination. Mr Abhishek Patel completed M.Tech in Farm Machinery and Power Engineering under the guidance of Dr Vishal Bector, while Rouf Aslam and Mr Asseya Wahid completed M.Tech in Processing and Food Engineering under the guidance of Dr MS Alam and Dr Satish Sharma, respectively.

Two students Gurpreet Jhally and Sunil Kumar, who graduated in B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering), got selected for ICAR Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) to pursue M.Tech at ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities. Bhupinder Jeet Singh, who completed B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering), got admission in M.Tech at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE - 2019) examination, conducted by IIT, Madras.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon congratulated PAU agri-engineers for bringing laurels to the University and for the recognition they got at the national level. He also extended best wishes for their prosperous career ahead.

Dr (Mrs) GK Sangha, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, appreciated the hard work put in by these candidates to get positions in prestigious examinations.

Dr Ashok Kumar, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, said these selections would further motivate the budding graduates in the discipline of agricultural engineering, to prepare and perform well at the national and international level examinations and other professional platforms.
