These five students of PAU have won ICAR international fellowships.

Ludhiana, November 7, 2014: The students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have created a national record by bagging “ICAR International Fellowships.” As many as five  M.Sc/M.Tech pass outs of PAU have been awarded “ICAR International Fellowship 2014-15.” By winning these five fellowships out of a total of 30 awarded at the national level, the PAU students have created a record of winning the largest number of fellowships within a year. Out of five students, three will be going to USA, and one each to U.K. and Spain to pursue their Ph.D. degree programmes. Sushant Mehan, (M.Tech in Soil and Water Engineering) will be going to South Dakota State University, Avik Mukherjee (M.Sc. in Agril Meteorology) to Utah State University and Debamalya Chatterjee (M.Sc in Plant Breeding & Genetics) to University of Georgia, USA. Harjeevan Kaur (M.Sc. in Biotechnology) and Prashant Kaushik (M.Sc in Vegetable Science) shall pursue their Ph.D. at University of York and University of Valencia in U.K. and Spain, respectively.

The Vice Chancellor, Dr B. S. Dhillon expressed immense pleasure with the achievements of the students. He congratulated and wished them good luck for their future academic pursuits.

While congratulating the students, the Dean, Postgraduate Studies, Dr Gursharan Singh lauded the Major Advisors and Heads of the respective departments for their guidance/motivation to the students. Dr Singh explained that earlier two M.Sc. pass outs of PAU were awarded ICAR International Fellowships in the last two years; one is pursuing his Ph.D. at Nebraska in USA and other at University of Otago in New Zealand. He also held a meeting with the winners of ICAR International Fellowship 2014-15 to share their experiences. The heads of various departments and other members of faculty were also present on the occasion.
