PAU STUDENT SHINES AT NATIONAL LEVEL ICAR EXAM
Ludhiana, September 17, 2018: Ms Athulaya R., an M.Sc Entomology student of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) specializing in Insect Toxicology, has won second rank at the national level All India Council of Education (AICE)-JRF/SRF (PGS) – 2018 examination, conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for admission to Ph.D. and award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)/Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) at the doctorate level. For her outstanding performance, she has secured her Ph.D. admission at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Hyderabad, with the award of JRF/SRF. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, congratulated the student on her outstanding achievement. Dr G.K. Sangha, Dean, Postgraduate Studies and Dr S.S. Kukal, Dean, College of Agriculture, also lauded PAU student’s achievement and wished her best in her future endeavours. Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja, Head, Entomology Department, PAU, shared that Athulaya has been a meritorious student with an OCPA of 8.83 and 8.68 out of 10.00 in her Bachelor and Master degree, respectively. During her M.Sc., she had been the recipient of National Talent Scholarship (NTS) of ICAR during 2016-2018. For her M.Sc., she worked on the ‘Estimation of residue of diafenthiuron in brinjal and cabbage’, and based on the pesticide deposits, metabolization, persistence/ dissipation and the residues studies, she has worked out waiting periods of the pesticide on both the crops to be one day owing to deposits left than MRL (1ppm) after this period.
