PAU ORGANISES PROGRAMME ON CLEANLINESS AWARENESS

Ludhiana, October 27, 2016: A programme on "Cleanliness Awareness" was organized by All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Integrated Farming System (IFS) and Network Project on Organic Farming, Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) under the aegis of ICAR- Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipurram, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The Swachta Pakhwada was inaugurated by Dr S.S. Kukal, Additional Director of Research (Natural Resource and Plant Health Management), PAU.

Dr Kukal stressed on efficient utilization of agriculture and animal wastes by incorporating into the soil. This would help in increasing the fertility and health of the ecosystem along with cleanliness of the surroundings, he added.

On the occasion, Dr Sohan Singh Walia, Principal Investigator, AICRP-IFS; Dr C.S. Aulakh, Senior Agronomist and Dr Thakar Singh, Head, Department of Agronomy were also present. They emphasized on the mission of Swachta Abhiyan and its objectives to the volunteers. They stressed on making environment clean and healthy, creating clean environment for animals also, and promoting hygiene and cleanliness to improve overall quality of life.
