PAU IMPARTS TRAINING IN FRUIT AND VEGETBALE PROCESSING

Ludhiana, June 23, 2017: The Department of Food Science and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a training course on “Fruit and Vegetable Processing” under the aegis of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) project. A total of 20 participants attended this course.

Dr. Poonam A. Sachdev, Head of the Department as well as Course Coordinator, welcomed the trainees and familiarized them with the Food Industry Business Incubation Centre and the departmental facilities. She informed the trainees about the technology for processing of fruits and vegetables at household level. She also apprised the participants of the preservation, packaging and labeling of fruits and vegetables products, especially, juices and beverages.

Ms Jagbir Rehal, an expert, gave demonstration on the preparation of sugar based products, tomato chutney, mango chutney, jams and different kinds of pickles.

Mr Rahul Gupta, Research Associate, conducted a visit to Food Industry Business Incubation Centre and laboratories of the Department.
