PAU Imparts Training In Cooking And Baking

Ludhiana, July 2, 2016: To inculcate the passion of cooking among young girls and women, the Department of Food and Nutrition, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a five-day short course on “Cooking and Baking,” which concluded today. A total of 28 trainees attended the course.
The Chief Guest, Dr G.S. Buttar, Additional Director of Extension Education, encouraged the participants to practice these skills for entrepreneurship. Later, he distributed the certificates among the trainees.
Dr Anita Kochhar, Professor and Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, apprised the trainees of right eating habits for good health.
The course was conducted under the supervision of Dr Kiran Grover, Senior Extension Specialist and Dr Sonika Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Food and Nutrition. Hands-on-training was provided on variety of recipes and cooking styles. In all, about 35 nutritious and delicious recipes including snacks, puddings, beverages, baked products and healthy fruit based drinks were demonstrated by the faculty of the department.
