PAU, Ludhiana on friday holds workshop and lecture for students.

Ludhiana, February 6, 2015: A two-day workshop on “Personality Development, Employability Skills and Higher Education” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The workshop was jointly conducted by University Counseling and Placement Guidance Cell, and Bridge Point Skills and Network (BPSN), which is a specialized organization, engaged in skill development in food, agri-business, retail and land based domain with the use of advanced technology. They have trained more than 3000 professionals and 1500 agriculture students in the last two years.

The workshop, focused on ‘College to Career,’ was targeted at final year students in order to prepare them for the upcoming placement interviews. Besides, it covered important aspects like effective communication, confidence building, personal grooming, etiquettes, resume writing, and real-time exposure and training on group discussions and personal interviews. In addition, a team of expert counselors from BPSN counseled foreign education aspirants on international career opportunities.

Meanwhile, a lecture on “Table Manners and Etiquettes” was also jointly organized by the PAU Counseling and Placement Guidance Cell, and Department of Food and Nutrition. The lecture was delivered by the instructors from The International School of Etiquette (ISOE) under the course “Institutional Food Service Management.” The second year students of B.Sc Nutrition and Dietetics, and elective students of food and nutrition attended the talk. Basic knowledge on table setting and cutlery was given. Besides, students were encouraged to practically set the table formally as well as informally under the supervision of Roopa Pahwa and Renuka Aggarwal. ISOE acquainted the students with the magical words in dining such as BMW meaning ‘Bread plate, Main course plate and Water,’ and B and D which symbolizes ‘bread and drink.’
