PAU HOLDS TRAINING CAMPS FOR TREE GROWERS AND SEED PRODUCERS

Ludhiana, June 13, 2017: A training camp of PAU Tree Growers’ Association (TGA) was organized at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in which about 54 members participated.Meanwhile, a monthly training camp for Seed Producers and Nursery Growers’ Association (SAPNA) was also held in which 42 members from various parts of Punjab participated.

Dr T.S. Riar, Programme Coordinator of both the training camps, welcomed the members and presented the review of last month’s activities. He said the members were informed about the seed production in rice (paddy and basmati) and its certification.

Dr T.S. Dhillon, Director (Seeds), PAU, spoke on strengtheningthe seed system of the University.

Dr Rajinder Singh, Vegetable Breeder and Dr J.S. Chawla, Senior Maize Breeder, dwelt on cultivation of kharif vegetables for seed production; and seed production of maize, especially, baby corn, sweet corn and pop corn seeds, respectively.

Dr Baljit Singh, Professor of Soil Science, explained about the fertilizer requirements in agro-forestry.

Mr PPS Pangli, President of SAPNA and Mr A.S. Poonia, Member of TGA, proposed the vote of thanks.
