PAU To Hold Training Course On Pasta Making

Ludhiana, October 6, 2015: The Directorate of Extension Education of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will conduct a training course on the preparation of various food items on October 19 and 20. The farmers and farm women will participate in the course, which will be held in association with the Department of Food Science and Technology, PAU.

Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, said the trainees will be imparted hands-on-training in the making of noodle pasta, extruded snacks, bakery snacks from wheat flour and the vital ingredients required for their preparation.

Meanwhile, a five-day training course on “Mushroom Growing” is underway at PAU. So far, the experts have shed light on the importance of mushrooms in daily diet and their quality seed production. Further, the microbiology experts will impart knowledge in the cultivation of different varieties of mushrooms such as milky mushroom, Shitake mushroom, dhingri mushroom and paddy straw mushroom. Besides, the experts will provide tips for growing mushrooms in household kitchen garden, and various recipes prepared using them. The experts will also provide control measures for the insect-pests and disease management in mushrooms.

BRIEF

A state level training-cum-workshop for the members of Progressive Beekeepers Association will be held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on October 7. The experts will delve on group approach for honey marketing and machinery for processing and value addition to honey. Besides, the beekeepers will visit the Department of Processing and Food Engineering, PAU for gaining first hand practical experience.
