PAU to hold 2nd Workshop of Deans Expert Committee on Biotechnology

Ludhiana, March 16, 2015: The Second Workshop of Deans’ Expert Committee on Biotechnology under Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Fifth Deans Committee will be held on March 17-18 at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Dr B.S Dhillon, Vice Chancellor, PAU will preside over the inaugural session of the workshop. As many as 18 members of the Deans Expert Committee from across the country will participate in the workshop.

According to Dr H.S Dhaliwal, Dean, College of Agriculture; Convener of the Deans Expert Committee on Biotechnology; and Core member of the ICAR’s Fifth Deans Committee, “The first workshop was also held on December 4-5, 2014 at PAU wherein nomenclature of biotechnology degrees for state farm varsities, and course titles and credit hours for the UG degree in Biotechnology were deliberated upon.” Further, on the basis of input at the presentation in the second workshop of ICAR’s Fifth Deans Committee with the Conveners and Co-conveners of all the eleven disciplines, held at New Delhi on February 11-13, 2015; courses, their titles and credit hours have been finalized. In the ensuing workshop on March 17-18, the contents of all these courses and semester wise distribution of the courses will be finalised, he added.
