Ludhiana, November 21, 2016: Dr (Ms) Gaganjyot, Assistant Residue Analyst, Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has bagged the “Best Ph.D. Thesis Award” at the National Symposium on “Agrochemicals Research and Education in India: Appraisal and Road Map for Future,” organized by the Society of Pesticide Science, India at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi from from November 15-17. She did her Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr Balwinder Singh, former Director of Research, PAU, in 2014. Her research work focused on the metabolism and absorption of thiamethoxam in cotton and its persistence in the soil. She also studied the effect of this pesticide on the activities of different soil enzymes. This study is first of its kind under the Indian conditions.
