PAU ALL SET TO HOLD TWO KISAN MELAS AT AMRITSAR AND FARIDKOT

Ludhiana, March 9, 2017: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will hold two Kisan Melas tomorrow at Nagkalan Jahangir, Amritsar and Faridkot. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU will be the chief guest at Kisan Mela, Nagkalan Jahangir, Amritsar whereas Dr S.S.Gosal, Member, PAU Board of Management and Former, Director of Research, PAU will be the chief guest at Kisan Mela, Faridkot. The mela will be held under the theme “Sow PAU seeds, adopt subsidiary occupations, do efficient marketing and maintain farm records.”

Dr R.S.Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, said both the melas will provide a pedestal to the farming community to see live demonstrations, interact with University subject-matter specialists, share their agrarian issues, seek solutions to the same, and purchase improved and quality seed of various crops. Besides, PAU farm publications will also be available for sale, he told. These melas update the knowledge of the farmers on newly released crop varieties as well as their production and protection technologies, he added.
