Chandigarh, October 26, 2014: District Patiala took a lead by procuring maximum of 5,31,106 Metric tonnes of paddy till date during the ongoing paddy procurement operations in the state while Ferozepur and Ludhiana remained on second and third positions with the total procurement of 5,30,654 Metric tonnes and 5,16,607 Metric tonnes (MTs) of paddy respectively.
Stating this here today a spokesman of the government said that 56, 01,396 MTs of paddy have been procured in all the 1806 purchase centres set up by the state government till last evening. The government agencies procured 54, 75,583 MTs i.e 97.8% and the private agencies procured 1, 25,813 MTs i.e 2.2% so far.
He further said that PUNGRAIN maintaining its lead amongst the government agencies and had procured the maximum17, 01,400 (31.1%) MTs paddy in the mandis of state whereas MARKFED procured 13, 01,005 (23.8%), PUNSUP 12, 17,876 (22.5%), PSWC 5, 39,551 (9.9%) PAFC procured 5, 24,251(9.6%). The Central government agency FCI has procured 1, 91,500 MTs of paddy (3.5%), he added.
