Chandigarh, November 11, 2016: Patent experts deliberated on the patent laws and IPR issues at Panjab University (PU) during the National Symposium on “Current Trends and Future Prospects in Biotechnology”.
The “Bio-cAMP 2016” symposium was organized by IPR Cell of Centre for Industry Institute Partnership Programme (CIIPP) of PU in collaboration with Cell for IPR Promotion & Management (CIPAM), Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India. The event was planned by the Biotechnology Department of UIET, PU.
During the event Assistant Controller of Patent & Designs, Patent Office, Ministry of Industry & Commerce, Govt. of India Dr. Usha Rao deliberated upon the patent laws and IPR issues related to Biotechnology.
Senior Scientific Officer (Env.) & Incharge (PIC), Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh Mr. Gurharminder Singh delivered the second talk. Mr.Gurharminder Singh further took the talk to the next level, where students were provided information with the case studies, how to file a patent, how to preserve a patent in Biotechnology sector.
The CIIPP vouches to hold many more such events in various departments of PU and its affiliated colleges so as to sensitize the students/researchers/faculty members about the various IPR issues to meet the entrepreneurial and skill development for new startups under the new initiative being taken by the Government of India.
