Parks are fine, where are youth to play, asks Capt Sandhu
Dakha, October 11, 2019: Taking a dig at his Akali opponent Manpreet Singh Ayali over his claims of having built sports parks across the constituency, Congress candidate from Dakha assembly segment Capt Sandeep Singh asked, “Where are the youth who will play in these parks?” He made a pointed reference to the scourge of drugs patronized by the Akalis that ruined an entire generation of youth and rendered it too feeble to play participate in any sports activity. While addressing a series of public meetings, Capt Sandhu also said that he had received a number of complaints from the people of the area that there was a massive scandal involved in the construction of sports parks. “I was told that the work that should have been completed at a cost of Rs.25 lakhs was completed for Rs.1 crore and who pocketed the money is anybody’s guess”, Sandhu said, while addressing a public meeting at Bharowal. Asserting that the Congress in general and he in particular did not believe in political vindictiveness and vendetta, at the same time he added, he will not let the guilty go scot-free. “I have been told about patronage to the drug peddlers, I have been told about corruption and I have been told about false FIRs against Congress workers”, he said, while promising that each and every case will be duly inquired into and guilty will be punished according to law. During his interaction with the elders in the village Gora Hoor and Bharowal, he said that he will look into the issue of the old age pensions and ensure that it is paid on time. He said, it was the top most priority of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh that the old age pension must not be delayed at any cost. Capt Sandhu was accompanied by senior local party leaders including Malkiat Singh Dakha, Major Singh Bhaini, Karan Warring and others.
