Jalandhar, September 12, 2015: To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of 1965 Indo – Pak war a Paramotor Expedition was flagged off by Maj Gen Deepak Dhanda, Chief of Staff Vajra Corps today in an impressive ceremony at Katoch Stadium, Jalandhar Cantt.
A 12 member Paramotor Expedition team led by Lt Col Rajiv Mishra will cover an aerial distance of 219 kms flying through Kapurthala, Harike, Khasa, Dera Baba Nanak, Tibri and Ropar.    The flying team is supported by a ground team which includes a medical team, security team and a rescue team.  The expedition has four Para Gliders which can fly at a speed of 25 to 75 km per hour at a height of approximately 500 feet to 700 feet.   2015 is the Golden Jubilee year of 1965 Indo-Pak war.  Thus, to pay our homage and tributes to the martyrs of the Vajra Corps a para motor expedition is being undertaken by paratroopers and troops of 15 Infantry Division.
The expedition will be flagged in by Lt Gen KJ Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Command at Chandigarh on 16 September 2015.
The 1965 Indo – Pak war took place from 05 August to 22 September 1965 on the Western front.  It witnessed some of the fiercest tank battles since World War –II.  Despite the qualitative edge of Pak Armour, it was outclassed on the battle filed by valiant Indian tank crews, supported by other arms and services.  Vajra Corps was actively and decisively involved in the major operations of this War.
