Panther Artillery Brigade celebrates Golden Jubilee

Jalandhar, August 1, 2014: The Panther Artillery Brigade  celebrated its Golden Jubilee to mark the completion of 50 yrs of its raising on 01 Aug 2014.   The event was attended by previous Commanders of the formation and war veterans.   Col (Retd) HS Kehlon, who had won the gallantry for his bravery in 1971 war was also present on this occasion to share his experience with the troops.
A wreath laying ceremony was held on the occasion to pay respect to the Valiant soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.   A blood donation camp was also organised on 28 Jul 2014 where in the officers, junior commissioned officers and jawans donated blood.
HQ 15 Artillery Brigade trace its origin from 37 Artillery Brigade which was raised at Mathura on 01 Aug 1964.   The history of the brigade is replete with the saga of unparalleled courage and professionalism of the valiant gunners.   Within a year of its raising the brigade was actively involved in the 1965 war against Pakistan.   The Gunners of the brigade distinguished themselves in the intense artillery duels and were instrumental in ensuring the success of all operations.   Having distinguisher themselves in the 1965 war, the Panther gunners again rose to the occasion in the 1971 war when 15 Infantry Division was tasked for the defense of politically sensitive towns of Amritsar and Dera Baba Nanak.   During this fierce conflict the unparalleled devotion to duty saw the gunners earn four Vir Chakra, five Sena Medal and three mentioned in Dispatches.   42 Field Regiment as part of this brigade was awarded the honour title Dera Baba Nanak.
In all operation the gunners have made their mark thus standing true to the adage that Artillery is the “God of War”.
On the Golden Jubilee of its raising, all ranks of the brigade rededicated themselves to the service of the nation once again.
