Chandigarh, September 30, 2019: PU professor to chair a session in Asian Innovation Forum: Professor Rupinder Tewari, Coordinator, DST-Centre for Policy Research, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been invited to chair a session, ‘Future of SMEs and Startup Ecosystem’ during 5th Asian Innovation Forum to be held in Manila, Phillipines during October 3-5, 2019.
Professor Tewari will also be delivering a scientific lecture on , ‘BIRAC-a Successful PPP Model for Stimulating Innovations (SMEs)’. In addition, he”ll dwell upon a study conducted by him and the scientific team of DST-CPR on recent inititaives of Government of India to stimulate Industry-Academia intercations in Higher Education Institutes, National Research Laboratories and Industries.
This forum has been created to make ‘Better Asia for Tomorrow’ through innovation as the expectations from the society has risen with increasing role of technology in our lives. Every year, the annual meeting of Asian Innovation Forum attracts scientists, educationists and policy makers of Asian countries including Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Phillipines, Sri Lanka, Thailand etc. to share best practices for strenthening innovation ecosystem.

Dhobi Ghat screened at PU: Dhobi Ghat, directed by Kiran Rao was screened at the Department of Art History and Visual Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh as a part of BIOSCOPE, a series of art films that would be screened followed by an interactive session. BIOSCOPE would be coordinated by Dr. Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairperson of the department along with Lekh Ram, Research scholar of the department. Films being a strong visual medium would familiarize the audience with the culture and traditions of various nature. The Department would screen films of different languages too. The screening was attended by students and art lovers of the tricity and the initiative was highly appreciated.

Lecture at PU: Researcher’s Society, Department of History organized the second lecture in connection of the Lecture Series based on the theme ‘Guru Nanak Dev.’ The lecture was delivered by Professor Anju Suri, Professor and Chairperson, Department of History, Panjab University. In her lecture, “Ethical Values in Thoughts and Teachings of Guru Nanak”, she discussed the ethics for the personal uplift and for uplift of the society. The annihilation of ‘houmai’ and passing through the five ‘khands’ of self-development as well as inculcation of virtues of wisdom, truthfulness, temperance, courage, justice, humility and contentment are essential for self-realization. The ethical values of social equality, universal brotherhood, altruism and social service are evident in the thoughts and teachings of Guru Nanak who preached ‘Sarbat ka Bhala.’ These ethical values are as relevant today as in the past and shall remain equally relevant in the times to come.
The lecture was organised at Department of History, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The lecture was started with the introduction of the Researcher’s Society and the floral welcome of the guest Prof. Anju Suri followed by the introduction of the theme of the lecture series. After that Dr. Priyatosh Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of History, Panjab Univesity introduced formaly our guest. Then the guest Prof. AnjuSuri delivered a wonderful lecture. Then the lecture ended with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Jasbir Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Panjab University.
Approximately 90 audiences witnessed the lecture who came from various Departments of the Panjab University and different Colleges of Chandigarh.
