Chandigarh, June 2, 2016: Panjab University (PU) Chandigarh today launched the website for Centralized admissions to B.Com first year in 12 Institutions at Chandigarh.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Controller of Examination, Prof Parvinder Singh launched the website. Director, Computer Centre, Prof. RK Singla; Coordinator for Centralized Admission for B.Com I, Prof Sanjay Kaushik and PU Director Public Relations, Mr. Vineet Punia were also present on the occasion.
The students can now apply for 2,310 seats of B.Com-I through the website http://bcomadmissions.puchd.ac.in./admissions-colleges.php. There are 1,260 seats in Co-Education Colleges, 910 seats in Women Colleges and 140 Seats in Men’s College. For any query, the students can contact only through email [email protected].
85 percent B.Com 1 seats in Chandigarh Colleges are reserved for UT (Chandigarh) Pool students, who passed 10+2 class from Chandigarh. 15 percent seats are open for General Pool. However, the Department of Evening Studies do not have any quota for UT Pool. The admission will be based on merit basis. Merit shall be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying examination and weightages as per information given in Handbook of Information/ Guidelines on websites.
For Boys and Girls, there will be 280 B.Com seats at D.A.V. College, Sector 10, 70 seats at Department of Evening Studies, PU, 350 seats at G.G.S.D. College, Sector 32, 140 seats at Govt. College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 42, 140 seats at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, 280 seats at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector-26, as these colleges are Co-Education.
For Girls, there are 140 seats at Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, 280 seats at M.C.M. D.A.V. College for Women, Sector 36, 210 seats at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, 140 seats at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, 140 seats at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42. These colleges are Women colleges only.
Boys can apply for the 140 seats at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, which is a Men college only.
Admission seekers can submit On-line registration up to June 14, 2016. The application forms can be submitted by post or by hand up to June 20, 2015 up to 5.00 PM at Room No. 5, University Business School (UBS), Arts Block - III, Sector 14, PU Campus. The last date for deposit of fee in any branch of State bank of India using website generated Bank Slip is June 16 upto 3:59 PM. The tentative merit List will be displayed on June 25 by 6 PM. The objections to the merit list can be filed by mailing at [email protected] on June 25 to 27.
The schedule of Counselling will be displayed on June 28, 2016. Final tentative merit list will be declared by June 29 by 6.00 PM. First physical counselling for the Colleges situated in Chandigarh including Department of Evening Studies, PU likely to be held on July 1 to July 4 at PU, Chandigarh.
The candidate applying under sports category must enclose their gradation certificates issued by Sports Department/Competent Authority of concerned state. However, candidates applying in Department of Evening Studies should get gradation done from Director Sports, PU, Chandigarh. Candidates seeking admission in Department of Evening Studies have to specially mark the option.
For consideration in U.T. pool (85% quota) for Chandigarh Colleges, candidate must submit the proof of attending 10+2 class from schools situated in Chandigarh. Candidates who have not studied 10+2 at Chandigarh are eligible for general pool under 15% quota. There is no pool quota in Department of Evening Studies, PU, Chandigarh. The candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School/Open University shall be considered in General Pool (15% Quota).
In year 2015-16, as many as 8,714 students had submitted online applications for centralized admission for the B.Com-I class. Coordinator for Centralized Admission for B.Com I, Prof Sanjay Kaushik informed that 7,407 students had deposited their fee in any branch of State Bank of India using website generated bank slip.
