Chandigarh, November 25, 2019: Dean International Students, Panjab University, Chandigarh partnered with British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations, to bring the latter’s ‘Study UK Fair’ to Chandigarh, here today. The Fair successfully hosted 341 students from Chandigarh and neighbouring areas and gave them direct access to representatives from 15 UK universities such as The University of Manchester, University of Essex and Royal Holloway, University of London among others. The Fair opened to a large contingent of students eagerly waiting to speak with the UK universities representatives and British Council experts to get answers to all their queries related to studying in the UK. Multiple seminars were organised through the day to help students contemplating a foreign education and those researching to select the best UK college/ university for their preferred subjects. Students, Parents, Teachers and Educationists attended the Study UK Fair. They were provided up-to-date information and the right advice pertaining to: • Application procedure • Shortlisting of courses and institutions • Scholarships and financial assistance • Post-study work opportunities • IELTS examinations The UK is a sought after education destination for Indian students, especially from North India and Punjab. There is 42% increase in Indian students in the UK in the 1 year period (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019). 21,881 Indian students were granted Tier 4 visa in this 1 year. BRIEF NEWS -------------- PANJAB UNIVERSITY, CHANDIGARH DECIDED TO PAY REMUNERATION TO EXAMINERS, LAB STAFF AND CONTINGENCIES Chandigarh, November 25, 2019: Panjab University, Chandigarh has decided to pay the remuneration to the examiners, lab staff and contingencies. Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, PU informed that after consistent efforts this proposal has become a reality for the teaching and non-teaching fraternity who are involved in conduct of Under Graduate and Post-Graduate Practical Examinations. They will be paid honorarium and contingency as per the University Rules immediately. It was further informed that the teaching staff and Lab Staff will be paid Rs. 45/- and Rs. 10/- respectively for UG/PG/Professional Courses, whereas, Rs. 10/- for UG and Rs. 15/- for PG/Professional Courses will be given against the contingency for per student. The payments will be transferred to the bank accounts of the concerned Principal/Chairperson.
