Dharamshala, September 29, 2016: World Rabies Day was celebrated in Palampur Himachal ,40-kms from here on Wednesday , by vaccinating 23 Dogs ,and all these were the stray dogs .The highlights of the celebration was treatment of the dogs for various diseases including the skin related diseases.
These dogs were sterilized by a team of 8 Veterinary Doctors headed by Dr.Sushil Sharma and Dr.Mohinder Sama. “These are the Dogs which were caught by the McLoedganj based professional dogs catchers of Dharamshala," said SDM Palampur, Mr Ajit Bhardwaj. SDM said that all the treated and sterlised dogs are being kept in a separate room and are being provided food and water thrice a day. all these dogs will be taken care of for three days in the place where they are kept. for these three days their health will be monitored and those found fit will be released at the place from where these were picked up.
Palampur does it as many people had contributed for this. The cost of vaccination and other medicines is being born by the Veterinary Department and that of catching the dogs ,their stay and food for the Dogs will be borne by Administration out of the contributions received from the residents of Palampur subdivision. SDM said that the campaign will continue for one week whereby we expect to treat around 100 dogs. If this remains successful in that event it will be repeated in other locations of the Subdivision This all could be possible because of the enthusiastic role of the Veterinary Officers.
