Doraha (Ludhiana), October 5, 2016: Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal today assured the farmers that the procurement of their paddy crop would be carried in a hassle free and transparent manner. He said that there would be no shortage of bardana (jute bags) for the ongoing paddy procurement. Dr Atwal said this while speaking to media persons during his visit to the grain markets of Doraha, Payal and Malaud today and supervised paddy procurement there.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal said that the Punjab government has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth procurement of paddy crop in the state. He said that directions have also been issued that there should not be any shortage of bardana (jute bags).
He also interacted with the farmers and directed the officers to redress their grievances on the spot. The Arhtiya's and farmers present on the spot also honoured Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal as they said that the Paddy procurement in the mandis of Payal constituency has always taken place smoothly.
While speaking to media persons, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal said that the Punjab government has made arrangements to ensure hassle-free procurement of paddy crop in the state. He said that strict instructions have been issued that payments to the farmers should also be made on time.
Before his visit to the Mandis, Dr Atwal also distributed bicycles to girl students at Government Senior Secondary Schools in Doraha town and Shahpur village of the Payal constituency. These bicycles were distributed under the Punjab government's Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme.
While addressing the students, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal said that the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party led Punjab government has started several schemes for uplifting the standard of education. He said that bicycles to girl students are being distributed under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme, for preparing the students for professional courses, seven meritorious schools have been started in the state where students scoring above 80% marks are getting free education, besides several others.
Dr Atwal said that primary education is one of the most important aspect for a child and good quality primary education acts as a strong and stable foundation for him. He said that the strong foundation in form of primary education proves most beneficial for him throughout his life. He said that strengthening primary education is need of the hour and even the state government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal and Education Department under Dr Daljit Singh Cheema is already working in this field. He said that he is personally taking interest in this regard.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included DFSC Geeta, Deputy DEO (Secondary) Ashish Kumar, Senior BJP leader Bikram Singh Cheema, Senior SAD leader Bhupinder Singh Cheema, besides several others.
