Paddy Procurement Running Smoothly In SBS Nagar Mandis: DC Sonali Giri

Payment Worth Rs 211.94 Crore Made To Farmers Against The Procured Grains In District
Nawanshahr, October 21, 2017: Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar mandis have registered a purchase of 159084 MT out of total 163038 MT arrival of paddy by last evening. Against the procured paddy, an amount of Rs. 211.94 has been paid to the farmers while 104 percent of the procured paddy lifted as per the 72 hours' condition laid down by the state.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mrs. Sonali Giri today said that since the starting of procurement of grains in the district from October 1, a total of 163038 metric ton paddy has arrived in the mandis across the district, out of which 159084 metric ton has been purchased by the various agencies. She said that during the current season, district mandis has an expectation of arrival of 376300 MT of paddy and so far 43 percent has been arrived.

District Food Supply Controller, Mrs. Renu Bala Verma while providing the agencywise procurement data, added that out of total procured grains till last evening, 40474 MT has been procured by the Pungrain, 37584 MT by the Markfed, 40385 by the Punsup, 15370 MT by the PSWC, 13688 MT by the Punjab Agro, 11061 MT by the FCI and 520 MT by the private traders. She said that procurement agencies have been directed by the deputy commissioner to make ensure lifting regularly to avoid any type of glut in mandis.
