Jalandhar, February 13, 2015: A Musical Evening featuring award winning artist Shekhar Sen was organised in Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar on Friday. This event was hosted by Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-promoter and President of Apeejay Stya & Svran group, President of Apeejay Education Society Co-founder and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University.

Shekhar Sen a singer, music composer, lyricist and actor is a  recipient of Padmashree award conferred by the government of India in 2015 and the ‘Safdar Hashmi Puraskar, 2001’ by the Sangeet Natak academy Uttar Pradesh for his outstanding contribution to the field of the performing arts. He has invented a new style in the field of entertainment -his monoact musical plays “Tulsi”, “Kabeer”, "Vivekanand" , "Saahab" & "Soordas"  To his credit, he has done more than 1200 singing concerts all over the world, released more than 200 cassettes & CD’s as singer, composer & lyricist. Mono act play ‘Kabir’ revolving around the exciting life story of the 15th century legendry saint, great reformist, poet and philosopher showcased on stage episodes from Kabir’s life and most importantly it brought forth Kabir’s message of love, peace and religious harmony in a play conceived, written, composed, directed and acted by Sen.

The play enthralled crème de la crème of Jalandhar who had flocked to Apeejay in Large numbers.

Sushma Berlia and her son Aditya Berlia who is the member of Board of Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and also the Joint Secretary of Apeejay Education Society planted saplings in the college along with Shekhar Sen. They received Green Certificates for their commitment to the environmental cause.

A documentary showcasing the journey of Sushma Paul Berlia was shown during the event. Berlia in her address said that this musical event was in continuation of her late father Dr. Stya Paul's vision to promote and propagate the rich and multifarious art and culture of India.
