PACKAGING, PRINTING to cost more

Ludhiana, January 31, 2013: Due to sudden increase in the rates of paper by almost all the major paper, paperboard and craft paper mills Offset Printers' Association (OPA) decided to increase the rate of Packaging /Printing by 15% with effect from February 1.

According to Sanjay Gandhi, Vice President said that this increase is due to severe cost pressures, and the prices increases effected recently.

Giving reason of the price increase by the paper mills, Gandhi informed that the Mill sources informed that this hike is due to severe cost pressures, and the prices increases effected recently only partially offset the cost increase on account of wood prices.

A leading manufacturer pointed out that the paper prices have increased repeatedly and on very short notices are given in between. Mills needs to inform the end customers well in advance before increasing the rates so that they can avoid facing awkward situations as the orders for supply of various material booked in advance.

The activist from the OPA (Offset Printers Association) also alleged about same difficulties being faced by them due to steep hike in raw material prices.
