OWNERS SHOULD AVAIL THE BENEFITS OF NEW MARRIAGE PALACES POLICY: GLADA

UNAUTHORISED MARRIAGE PALACES NEED NOT DEMOLISH THEIR BUILDINGS
Ludhiana, September 29, 2017: While it's almost two months since when the new marriage palaces policy has been notified, not even a single application has been received by the the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA). Where on one hand, the onset of the Marriage season has brought in new zeal, hope as well as expectations of healthy earnings, on the other hand, the latest list published by PUDA on its Official website has invoked sleepless nights to the 243 owners of the un-regularized marriage palaces. According to the said list, Of the 276 marriage palaces under the jurisdiction of GLADA only 33 have been regularized till so far.

Chief Administrator, GLADA Mr.Parminder Singh Gill, IAS has said that the marriage palaces which have not been recognised by the Government will be saved from demolition if they get the same regularised under the new policy of 2017. While there is yet another and a golden chance, they must avail of this opportunity which is knocking their doors, failing which they would have to face the sealing of the buildings and other stringent measures to curb the menace.

GLADA Additional Chief Administrator, Ms. Neeru Katyal Gupta, PCS added that in this policy, those who were left to apply for regularisation whether existing or new can submit their applications by 31st October 2017.

Undoubtedly, the new marriage palace policy vide its notification 12/8/2012-5HgII/4610 dated 11th Aug 2017 is a big relief to the problems being faced by the owners of the marriage palaces. Unprecedentedly, this policy has brought certain major relaxations, rationalisation of charges and ease in the favour of the owners of the existing marriage palaces. Whereas on the other hand for the new ones the upfront CLU charges that were earlier 25% have now been reduced to 15%. The balance 85% shall be payable in in six equal six monthly instalments, that too without interest. This time, it has been decided by the Government to condone violations in building bylaws to the extent of 10 per cent.

The new policy is also aimed at faciliting construction of new marriage places, thereby mitigating the problems faced by owners of marriage places, besides ensuring safety and parking facility for the people gathering at such venues.
